  1. Try galeon. It uses the mozilla rendering engine (gecko) but is much leaner and faster. Doesnt have the mailer of course, but for browsing, I find it a much better experience.

Yahoo webcam – forget it. The way Yahoo is going, I suspect they have far bigger priorities than *adding* functionality – they have enough problems making *existing* functionality of their services work! 😉

And try openoffice 1.0. I know that you are an MS Office junkie, but OpenOffice is now *very* usable for 90% of the tasks you would normally want to use.

And use gaim, of course. Native-service IM clients tend to be buggy, featureless, inefficient and most of all wholly inefficient – why have multiple clients when you can have one?

I mean, if the “official” client would give you all the features of the Windows version, I could see reason to use it, but if it gives less features than gaim….? 😉

I remember you had told me about galeon – intertia actually – will get the RPM and get galeon running by tomorrow.

Since yahoo is not looking at my requirements, I will dump it – will try gnome net meeting (does it work if the person at the other end uses Microsoft net meeting?) again i will have to get the RPM or wait till the GT Enterprises ships me the RH7.3 CD’s (which will be next week)
I am not an M$ OFfice junkie – I am an Excel Junkie. I need CXO primarily for running ExceL.

And lastly, I *am* using GAIM 🙂 running MSN, Yahoo and Jabber on it

Agreed – BUT it is the Mozilla mailer which is more used in her setting, I use Galeon for browsing and you know what for mails 😉

      Yahoo webcam – forget it.
I was hoping someone would write a GAIM plugin

      And try openoffice 1.0.
Nope!! The spreadsheet sucks, She uses Excel for accounting, I tried to convert the whole thing BUT got stuck at a very basic point – No dynamic ranges, that is if she adds a row to the ledger she had to redefine the range before it shows up in the summary sheet (actually pivot tables in Excel)
