TaZa TaZa

After searching for days I finally found a radio station on the net which plays the music I like. So, sitting here in central India I listen to music broadcasted by a US based Internet radio station – TaZa radio

What impressed me most is the support they offer – As usual I was about to give up muttering “bah yet another site for IE and Windows users” but decided to let the site owners know of existence of users like me who use Fedora Core1 , Mozilla and RealOne player. What I did not know was that I will end up being so impressed to make a complete entry on LJ about it. Ram Bapu the COO responded to my mail promptly and gave me a link that enabled me to listen to the Radio on RealOne player directly. What more, I discovered I can listen to radio using my XMMS too using this link – http://ba.tazaradio.com:3690/listen.pls by changing ‘ba’ to ‘east’ or ‘central’ or ‘mountain’ or ‘la’ I can listen to the other stations of TaZa Radio – and here I am *completely* addicted!!!

I am yet to find out as to why I cant get the link working through Mozilla.

YES!!!!!

We won the match 90 seconds back.

It was a typical india-pakistan match, till the very last ball and I hear crackers all around.

Name the Movie

“Kya karon , Aisa he hoon main”

Another quiz for bollywood buffs – Hint- a mushy romantic feel good movie

Reminiscence

Reminiscence

Lashing on their faces,
dishevelling their clothes,
goose pimples on skin,

The crisp morning wind
gave a signal to the
unaware riders of solitude

Biting their lips
surmounted by lust
they surrendered

They had to choose;
to win their world back
or wither away in wilderness

Big bunch of thanks to Jessie, Atul, Khader, Shradha, Jace, Noella, Mannu, Balaji, Mona, Ashwin, for wishing me.

Thanks Kaja for the lovely Card.

I celebrated it by sleeping in the afternoon instead of working (and you who is going to crack a wise one, beware, you are much older and already having “typical” old age problems of not getting the figures right 😛 )

Got several cards from Tarique and a set of Gold danglers. Aasim gave me a lovely card and I bought myself a white cheese cotton dress. Chiya gave something for the dining table and mom is yet to come… so I have more surprises coming in

Painting work in the office is starting tomorrow – I hope I don’t get another asthma bout.

A simple Quiz

All these one liners belong to one movie. Which one?

* Shaant gadadhari Bheem shaant.

* Nahi, Draupadi jaisi Sati nari ko dekhkar maine cheer haran ka idea drop kar diya hai. Jai ho, aisi Sati nari ki jai ho.

* Yeh sab kya ho raha hai?

* Bhaiya, yeh aap keh rahein hai? (drastic change of tone) Abbe sale, kehde cheer harne ko.

* Draupadi tere akele ki nahi hai. Hum sab shareholder hain.

* Magar bade bhai ke vachchan ki aagya ka palan karna hi padega
Kyun?
Abbe natak main aisa likha hai.
Palan to humne kabhi apne baap ki aagya ka nahi kiya. Tu cheez kya hai?

* Dhanush tod diya. Teen rupaye ka nuksaan kar diya. Main nahi karta natak watak. Bhaad mein jao tum sab.

* Nalayak, adharmi, durachari, vamachari, bhrasthachari, bol sorry! Apne sasur ko nahi pehchante? Main hoon Draupadi ka baap, Dhrupad.

* This is too much. Yeh Akbar kahan se aa gaya?

😉

Tahzeeb

Tahzeeb – Touching movie. Beautifully carved out characters, terse direction and good cuts. I always read reviews by Khalid Mohammad with a lot of interest, they always made wonder, how can this man be so critical – he had the knack of tearing a movie into bits. I now know how and why. The eye for details he has is rarely seen in directors. His choice of words, moments, people, songs, music -everything is just perfect. I love the man!!!

Calvin and Hobbes

Three calvin and hobbes books!!!!

And I have two special people to thank for it 🙂

Where are you girl, not seen you online since ages…

Feels good to see aasim out there

Someday he will understand the power of open source…

Aasim at linux Bangalore 2003

Waiting for my son to grow up and see this.

MBMBBS and more

Munna Bhai MBBSis hilarious…. good clean comedy to be watched without thinking too much about fact and fiction – give the director some creative liberty yaar…

Weekend mood started yesterday by watching the above mentioned movie. Just returned from the national book fair. Picked up some interesting books – Umrao Jaan Ada by Mirza Mohd Haadi Ruswa (we already have Khushwant Sing’s translation of the book but I like reading originals if i can get them)

More books – poetry collection of Bahadur Shah Zafar, Sahir Ludianvi and a couple of books on learning urdu script. My evenings for the next few weeks are made 😀
