Hypnotizing Maria and the rest of the world.

Richard Bach's latest

Perhaps some people will not understand it as much as some others and then there would be some who won’t get a word, but we do hope to find some with clean slates who do. We are all teachers and students alike.

What Donald Shimoda was to Richard, Jamie Forbes realizes, he is to Maria and his other advance flying students. More than 20 years back Illusions molded our mind that thinks the way it does today. Messiah? Hypnotist? What difference does it make? We are all we think ourselves to be.

While the blue feather was carefully kept inside as we chugged along, in spirit we always carried it while living and experiencing life as it happened. Learnt millions of lessons each day that strengthened the belief we had. It was not a well laid out path, we had to remove obstacles and at times such huge ones that they seemed unsurmountable. We only had a belief that we can, that we have the power to and that we will emerge through every obstacle that crossed our way.

A gift on my 23rd birthday

It was not a coincidence when Tarique gave me “Nothing by Chance” on my birthday; exactly 19 years back.  He wrote on the first page of the book “Let me warn you, it’s nothing by chance in this life. May be you need this book”. And indeed, since there are no coincidences, Tarique and I got married in 1994 (We weren’t lovers in 1991 when he gave the book to me) Perhaps it was just a lovely suggestion which we both accepted.

A month back, on 21st January 2010, at Mumbai airport Tarique came across Richard Bach’s latest. Wow!, out of the blue! I thought, and never was I so sure as I am now that it was not a mere coincidence: our own “Winston’s Encyclopedia of Stage Entertainers”. Never was the this reaffirmation in our ideologies so necessary as it was a few months back. Yes! “Hypnotizing Maria” is a reinforcement in our beliefs for us. Nothing new or enlightening is needed at this stage, just a reiteration of what we always believed and lived by. So If anyone picks up this Richard Bach’s book expecting something new, they will be disappointed because all his book have told the same story and perhaps they forgot that 🙂

“I shall remember that I created this world, that I can change and improve it by my own suggestion whenever I wish.” is the diktat we lived by in our 20’s and 30’s and we will in our 40’s thru 80’s after which we shall go  back to reading “Jonathan Livingston Seagull”

  1. Hmmm. I definitely fall in the category of those who shall not understand a word. Neither am I the one with a clean slate. Guess that renders all comments useless. 😉 But I am sure, many there are, who shall understand, and grasp, and take away something from this post.
