{"id":96,"date":"2014-09-16T07:05:53","date_gmt":"2014-09-16T07:05:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/swatisani.net\/kitchen\/?p=96"},"modified":"2015-07-25T17:05:47","modified_gmt":"2015-07-25T11:35:47","slug":"cooking-as-stress-buster","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/swatisani.net\/kitchen\/cooking-as-stress-buster\/","title":{"rendered":"Cooking as stress buster"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As a young woman I did not enjoy cooking, what made the matter worse was the fact that I grew up in a typical Indian middle class household and was expected to know and excel in all &#8220;girly&#8221; things. While things started changing after I got married, I still did most of the kitchen work as a chore. Thankfully, while I cooked for my family there was always ample help at hand. My husband, <a href=\"http:\/\/tariquesani.net\">Tarique<\/a>, was interested in cooking and had afternoons free since he was practicing as a pediatrician and my father in law liked to help me. So when I returned from the<a href=\"http:\/\/www.pressmanindia.com\/\">\u00a0office<\/a>\u00a0the dinner preps were done, and I just had to put in less than an hour or so of work in the kitchen. That suited me very well.<\/p>\n<p>Years passed, and my work load increased. I now had <a href=\"http:\/\/sanisoft.com\">my company<\/a> to look after, and I had thought cooking a meal will be an avoidable chore till one time when the cook took a long leave. \u00a0I battled on both fronts and in a few days, the maid returned. To my surprise I realised that I had started enjoying my tryst with the kitchen during her absence. It had helped me to unwind and relax, not to mention garner praises from my family and a growing up child. It did not take long for me to cook on a regular basis, and soon friends and family started pouring in; they did not mind being scapegoats to my culinary experiments.<\/p>\n<p>Recently when a friend who had gone abroad wanted to know a few of my recipes I thought of chronicling them all. So here they are.
