Javed Akhtar has been one of my favorite poets since the time I started reading Urdu poetry. His way of penning emotions in simple words makes his writings extremely precious to me. Here is one such poem that is very close to my heart.
हम तो बचपन में भी अकेले थे
सिर्फ़ दिल की गली में खेले थे
एक तरफ़ मोर्चे थे पलकों के
एक तरफ़ आँसूओं के रेले थे
थीं सजी हसरतें दूकानों पर
ज़िन्दगी के अजीब मेले थे
आज ज़ेहन-ओ-दिल भूखों मरते हैं
उन दिनों फ़ाके भी हमने झेले थे
ख़ुदकुशी क्या ग़मों का हल बनती
मौत के अपने भी सौ झमेले थे
Hmm, what about writing Urdu poetry in its original script? or a transliteration in English would also work. 🙂

Mulaqat-e-mehfil ka azal tum se hai……..
mere kalam ki ye gazal tum se hai……..
padta hu koi nazm jab, jism-o-jaan me bas tum hi samati ho……..
palat ta hu varq jab dil ki kitaab ke, shuru se akhir tak bas tum hi pati ho……..
sham ka nasha apne shabab par hai, kuch pal me din dhal jayega………
aa rok du in waqt ki suiyon ko, phr visaal ka shama nikal jayega…….

hum sagar ke do kinare jo kabhi milat nahi ,woh leherin hain jo kabhi dikhte nahi,doodhn wale hume doondh h lete hain ,wo moti hai jo kabhi bikhate nahi

I wached Javed Akhtar & Shabana Azmi’s Interview at Channel Zoom where He recited one poem written by his waalid… “Tu iskadar mujse Juda Hai……” I dont remember the rest… I want to find out. HOW?
i love javed saabs lyrics and the songs are excellent -oh so meaningful.
