Firaq Gorakhpuri was the pen name or \u201ctakhallus\u201d of Raghupati Sahay. He was a lecturer of English at Allahabad University and it is during this time that he wrote most of his Urdu poetry including his magnum opus Gul-e-Naghma which earned him the highest literary award of India, the Jnanpith Award, and also the 1960 Sahitya Akademi Award in Urdu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
