Hamid Iqbal Siddiqui, Hamid Mamu for me, is one of the finest shayar that I have met. Shairi is his legacy. Grandson of Seemab Akbarabadi and younger brother of Iftekhar Imam Siddiqui, he has been relentlessly serving for the cause of Urdu language by conducting Urdu Quizzes in Schools and by editing Shair, the oldest Urdu language literary magazine. His work and his poetry both have kept me and many others like me in awe for a long long time and I am fortunate to have known him both as a person and as a poet.
