حجاب فتنہ پرور اب اٹھا لیتی تو اچھا تھا
خود اپنے حسن کو پردا بنا لیتی تو اچھا تھا

It is said that the biggest tragedy in life of poet Majaz was his association with women. A romantic poet, he is often called “Keats” of Urdu poetry and he has written some of the most romantic Urdu poetry in his time. However, he was a revolutionary too like several other poets of his time and also has these lines to his credit among several other Ghazals written for the country.
Bol ari o dharti bol
raaj sinhasan daavan dol
and
Ye inqilaab ka muzda hai inqilaab nahi
ye aaftaab ka partau hai aaftaab nahi
